Djrodekon 1 Group is made up of three people, all living in the same neighborhood. The group is represented by Assiba Micheline, who is pictured raising her hand. The parents share the various household expenses. Assiba Micheline has had very little formal education.

Assiba Micheline sells corn, charcoal and akassa (a local food made from corn starch), and as an additional activity she sells fried fish. She gets her supplies in Benin. This is the third time that Assiba Micheline and the other members of Djrodekon 1 Group came to the microfinance institution Alidé and applied for financial assistance in order to increase their working capital and raise their activity level, and thus better meet their clients' demand.

DJRODEKON 1 est un groupe de trois personnes, dont les membres résident dans le même quartier. La représentante du groupe, Assiba Micheline (dont la main est levée sur la photo), est âgée de 58 ans et est mariée à un mécanicien du nom de Bienvenu. Le couple a trois enfants, tous scolarisés et à leur charge. Assiba Micheline vit ensemble avec son mari et ses enfants. Le couple assure ensemble les différentes charges de la maison. Assiba Micheline a très peu fréquenté l'école. Assiba Micheline vend du maïs , du charbon de bois ; et d'akassa (aliment local fait à base d'amidon de maïs) accompagné de poissons frits de façon secondaire. Assiba Micheline achète ses produits au Bénin. C’est la troisième fois que Assiba Micheline et les autres membres du groupe DJRODEKON 1 sollicitent l’appui financier de ALIDé en vue de renforcer leur fonds de roulement et leur activité et de mieux répondre aux exigences de leur clientèle.

Alidé is a Beninese NGO that works to reduce poverty by offering sustainable access to productive loans like this one in addition to savings, training sessions, and social work to low-income families.

Supporters of this loan should be aware that there is some risk of being repaid late. Because the Beninois Ministry of Finance has imposed restrictions on the amount of money Alidé can send to Kiva, the organization can only send monthly repayments in installments smaller than $13,000. This means that some Kiva lenders may receive their repayments late. However, Alidé remains a healthy institution in good standing with its creditors, and Kiva would like to continue working to support its clients.
