The community group SENA2 consists of three people who live in the same neighborhood. They are seeking financial support from ALIDé for the second time to bolster their activities.

The representative of the group is Aniouvi Celine, whose hand is raised in the photo. Aniouvi Celine is 32 years old and lives in Benin. She is a widow with four dependent children who all attend school. For the past ten years, Aniouvi Celine has been selling foodstuffs (rice, maize, cassava flour) in her neighborhood to support herself and her children. She buys her stock at a market in Benin.

In order to meet the needs of her customers and further strengthen her business, Aniouvi Celine is seeking a second loan from ALIDé, together with the other members of SENA2. The first loan was repaid without incident.

La représentante du groupe, du nom de Aniouvi Céline est celle qui a la main levée sur la photo. Aniouvi Céline est âgée de 32 ans et vit au Bénin. Aniouvi Céline est une veuve qui a quatre enfants tous scolarisés et à sa charge. Depuis une dizaine d’années, Aniouvi Céline vend des produits alimentaires (riz, maïs, farine de manioc) dans son quartier afin de subvenir à ses besoins et à ceux de ses enfants. Aniouvi Céline s’approvisionne dans un marché du Bénin. Dans la quête de la satisfaction de sa clientèle et pour plus renforcer son activité, Aniouvi Céline sollicite ensemble avec les autres membres du groupe SENA2, un deuxième crédit auprès de ALIDé. Le premier prêt a été bien remboursé.

About Alidé

Alidé is a Beninese NGO that works to reduce poverty by offering sustainable access to productive loans like this one in addition to savings, training sessions, and social work to low-income families.

Supporters of this loan should be aware that there is some risk of being repaid late. Because the Beninois Ministry of Finance has imposed restrictions on the amount of money Alidé can send to Kiva, the organization can only send monthly repayments in installments smaller than $13,000. This means that some Kiva lenders may receive their repayments late. However, Alidé remains a healthy institution in good standing with its creditors, and Kiva would like to continue working to support its clients. This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.
