Karimeh is a 61-year-old Lebanese married woman living with her husband and two children. Despite her older age, she has been working as a farmer for the past 20 years. She is specialized in cultivating vegetables according to the season. She works hard in collaboration with her husband to provide better living conditions to the family. Today, she is requesting to borrow $1000 from Kiva partner Ameen s.a.l to purchase fertilizers and seeds to increase her business productivity and help her harvested products grow faster. In the future, she plans to hire a part-time employee to work on her behalf.
Due to political and social challenges in Lebanon, personally identifiable attributes entrepreneurs may have been altered to protect their privacy (i.e., blurring portions of the borrower's picture, not indicating a name and location, etc.). Vitas appreciates Kiva lenders' understanding of these challenges and encourages them to continue their support for Lebanon's borrowers.
