Linel is 45 years old and lives in the small village of Sabang, Larena, Siquijor. She is married with six children.
She sells natural medicines throughout the entire province of Siquijor. Each month, she earns an income of PHP 16,000 doing this type of work. She has requested a loan of only PHP 25,000 to purchase natural medicines and continue to sell throughout the whole province of Siquijor.
Linel has been a member of Paglaum Multi Purpose Cooperative for 11 months. In the future, Linel hopes to enable her two children, now in college, to finish studying.
About Paglaum Multi-Purpose Cooperative
Paglaum Multi-Purpose Cooperative (PMPC) was founded in 1992 by the beneficiaries, parents and staff of the Paglaum Community Development Foundation to address economic and livelihood activities for sustainability. The organization operates in the northwestern provinces of Mindanao and Visayas.
In the local vernacular, “paglaum” means “hope.” The initial foundation is dedicated to child development through a holistic approach. The goal is to build self-reliance and expand opportunity so the poorest of the poor can help themselves.
