Mahmoud is a 35-year-old Lebanese married man living with his wife. He’s really ambitious and looking for a good future. In 2004, he started to work as a farmer on his own land. Today, he’s asking for a loan of $2,000 from Kiva partner Ameen s.a.l. to purchase fertilizers and seeds. This loan will certainly increase his production and therefore enhance his way of living. He estimates that with the coming harvest, his profits will increase by 10%.
Due to political and social challenges in Lebanon, personally identifiable attributes entrepreneurs may have been altered to protect their privacy (i.e., blurring portions of the borrower's picture, not indicating a name and location, etc.). Vitas appreciates Kiva lenders' understanding of these challenges and encourages them to continue their support for Lebanon's borrowers.
