The Miwononvi group is made up of two people who both live in Bénin. The representative of the group, named Mariam, has her hand raised in the photo. This is the fourth time that this group has requested financial help through ALIDé in order to grow their business. Mariam is 36 years old and is married to a refrigeration specialist name Marcel. Mariam has four children. All have been educated and two are still in her care. Mariam lives with her husband and children. Together, the couple meets their different needs. Mariam left school at the primary level. She has been making and delivering pure water to people’s homes for five years. She also sells water from the pump. This allows her to meet the needs of her family without too much difficulty. In order to meet the demands of her customers, Mariam wants to increase her stock of products and to raise the level of her business. To do this, Mariam is requesting, along with the other member of the Miwononvi group, a fourth loan through ALIDé.

Mariam a arrêté l’école au niveau primaire. Depuis cinq ans, Mariam exerce comme activité, la fabrication de pure water par le système de livraison à domicile, et de façon secondaire, la vente de l’eau de pompe. Ce qui lui permet de répondre sans grande difficulté aux besoins de sa famille. Dans le souci de mieux répondre aux exigences de sa clientèle, Mariam désire renforcer ses stocks de produits et rehausser le niveau de son activité. Pour ce faire, Mariam sollicite, ensemble avec les autres membres du groupe MIWONONVI, un quatrième crédit auprès de ALIDé.
Alidé is a Beninese NGO that works to reduce poverty by offering sustainable access to productive loans like this one in addition to savings, training sessions, and social work to low-income families.
Supporters of this loan should be aware that there is some risk of being repaid late. Because the Beninois Ministry of Finance has imposed restrictions on the amount of money Alidé can send to Kiva, the organization can only send monthly repayments in installments smaller than $13,000. This means that some Kiva lenders may receive their repayments late. However, Alidé remains a healthy institution in good standing with its creditors, and Kiva would like to continue working to support its clients.
