YEHIME Group is made up of 26 persons who all live in the same neighborhood. This is the second time that the members of the group are seeking financial support from Kiva's partner, ALIDé, in order to bolster their businesses and better meet customer demand.

The group's representative, named Lucienne, is the one raising her hand in the photograph. She's 38 years old, and married to one Théodore. The couple have four school-attending children they have to support, and cover the various family expenses together.

To provide for her various needs and help with the family expenses, Lucienne sells smoked fish as an itinerant vendor. She gets her supplies in Benin. For the second time, Lucienne and the other members of the group are seeking a loan from ALIDé in order to bolster their businesses.

YEHIME est un groupement composé de vingt six personnes qui vivent toutes dans le même quarter. C’est la deuxième fois que ce groupement sollicite un crédit auprès de ALIDé, afin d’élever le niveau de leur activité et de mieux répondre aux exigences de leur clientèle. La représentante du groupe du nom de Lucienne est celle qui a la main levée sur la photo. Lucienne est âgée de 38 ans et est mariée à un certain Théodore. Le couple a quatre enfants, tous scolarisés et à leur charge. Le couple se partage ensemble les diverses charges de la famille. Pour subvenir à ses différents besoins et contribuer aux charges familiales, Lucienne vend des poissons fumés de façon ambulante. Lucienne s’approvisionne au Bénin. C’est la deuxième fois que Lucienne et les autres membres du groupement YEHIME sollicitent un crédit auprès de ALIDé, crédit qui leur servira à rehausser leur activité.

About Alidé

Alidé is a Beninese NGO that works to reduce poverty by offering sustainable access to productive loans like this one in addition to savings, training sessions, and social work to low-income families.

Supporters of this loan should be aware that there is some risk of being repaid late. Because the Beninois Ministry of Finance has imposed restrictions on the amount of money Alidé can send to Kiva, the organization can only send monthly repayments in installments smaller than $13,000. This means that some Kiva lenders may receive their repayments late. However, Alidé remains a healthy institution in good standing with its creditors, and Kiva would like to continue working to support its clients. This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.
