Fatuma
Fatuma is 43 years old and lives in the town of Bugembe in the Jinja region of Uganda. She is widowed and has six children, four of whom are currently in school. For the past five years, Fatuma has been working hard to manage her business, in which she sells maize and produce.

To help expand her business, Fatuma has requested a loan of 2,000,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy more bags of maize, and will help Fatuma to generate greater profits and transition into selling wholesale. Fatuma hopes that in the future she will be able to open other wholesale businesses.

Fatuma is a member of BRAC's Small Enterprise Program (SEP). The program primarily serves small business entrepreneurs like Fatuma who do not have enough collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown too large for microloans.
