Las Primaveras Group. Formed at the end of the month of September, they are from the city of Pilar. Initiation into the group is made after four formation visits. During the formation of the group they showed themselves to be sufficiently happy to join the group, since they shared their business plans with us as well as their daily commercial activities which are carried out to cover household costs and business maintenance. The members of the group are characterized by sacrifice and a desire to progress. Many of them are single mothers and struggle daily to provide for their children and relatives.

One of the members is Gladys. She mentions that she sells all kinds of beverages - work which brings her a good income. She says that she has many clients. Given that the majority are from her neighborhood, she has very good sales especially on weekends, which is when most people are at home.

She is requesting the loan for the purchase of beverages, such as beer and wine. These sell well, so she wants to have a good stock of them.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
