Naftary is a resident of Nkubu Town, Central Kenya where he practices farming and works as a clerk in a local coffee factory. He has had eight straight years in farming and currently produces milk, maize and coffee, which go to the local market. He is married with two children who are 5 and 3 years old. The oldest is already schooling.
Naftary has requested a loan of 78,750 KES from Juhudi Kilimo to purchase and insure a dairy cow. He says the loan will improve his family living standards and help him educate his children. He adds that he plans to buy more dairy cows to expand the business.
Naftary, however, notes that animal diseases are a challenge to the farming business.
