Ngetich is age 27 and married with 2 children who are 4 and 2 years old. He has been in farming for 10 years. He currently employs one farmhand and sells his produce of milk to the local market. He also operates a motorcycle transport business.
He has requested a loan of 60,000 KES from Juhudi Kilimo to purchase a dairy cow for his dairy farming business. He says the additional cow will boost his dairy income and enable him to expand his transport business as well. He is optimistic the businesses will continue to grow and be able to provide for the family's basic needs.
He says lack of finances is the major challenge to farmers.
To facilitate a partnership between Kiva and Juhudi Kilimo, K-Rep Group (Juhudi Kilimo’s 100% owner) has guaranteed Kiva funds in the event of institutional default. Lenders should be aware that the risk of borrower default remains borne by the lender.
