Mrs. L., 47, has been selling beef soup, cake and candy since 2001. She is married to Seang Sroy, 61, a truck driver for 26 years. They have one daughter who is working in a garment factory. They are living in Sam Raung Commune along Tonle Sap River, about 12 kilometers from Phnom Penh. L. is friendly and works very hard in her business. She hopes to build a new house for her family in the future.
She is requesting a loan for the fourth time in the amount of $1,200 to buy rice because the price is greatly reduced during harvest season.
