Avtandil comes from the village of Gulekari in Abasha District, West Georgia. He is 32 years old, married, and lives with his family ‒ his wife Nanuli, two daughters (10 and 4 years old), a 9-year-old son, and his parents. His older children go to school.
All adult family members are involved in the family agricultural business, which is the main source of the income for the family. They have 12 milk cows and sell on average 210 kg of cheese per month at the local market. The family also grows maize on 3 hectares of land. Part of the harvested maize is used for feeding domestic cows and the rest is sold locally. Along with the above-mentioned, Avtandil owns a tractor, which is an important source of income for them. He uses it for tilling his own land, as well as the neighbor’s plots to earn additional income. The total average monthly income for the family is 1200 Laris, including pensions from Avtandil’s parents.
Avtandil has requested a loan to change 2 wheels on his tractor. As soon as Avtandil changes the wheels, he will take harvested maize to the store and start performing the neighbor’s orders for tilling. In the near future, Avtandil plans to make some savings, as he plans to purchase furniture for his family in order to improve their living conditions.
