Vilayat is 45 years old, married and has three children. He has been working as a farmer for many years. Vilayat is involved in growing fruit trees: pomegranate, apple, pear, etc. He sells seedlings and fruits in the local bazaar. He is also involved in fattening up and selling livestock.
This is his second loan from Kiva and AqroInvest. Vilayat used his earlier profits to buy three dairy cows.
He requested a loan in the sum of 1,500 AZN for the purchase of more seeds and fertilizer to improve his soil.
Aqroinvest Credit Union was founded by a group of 32 Imishli farmers in 2001, and has grown to become one of the largest credit unions in Azerbaijan. It boasts a portfolio of nearly $5 million and is wholly owned by its more than 3,500 borrowers, as of December 2011.
