Elza is 45 years old. She lives in the village of Sairkhe in the Imereti Region of West Georgia. She is married and lives with her children: two sons (24 and 21 years old) and a daughter, 22 years old. Elza's sons are construction workers. They work on construction in their and nearby villages. Elza's daughter is a pharmacist. She works in a village pharmacy.
Elza leads the agricultural business of the family. They own a milk cow and sell dairy products in Zestaponi (a nearby town). Also the family has a small poultry farm. They sell eggs at the same market. Along with the above, Elza sells grapes, harvested from 200 family-owned vines. The total average monthly income of the family is 400 Laris (approximately $240).
Elza requested a loan to purchase a milk cow. She will increase her sales of dairy products and thus raise the income of the family. The family members will be able to purchase needed household goods and improve their living conditions.
