Update on MBK Loans

Entrepreneur: Warni Sopian
Location: Darmaga, Bogor,, Indonesia

Dear Kiva Lender,

In response to several inquiries on this matter, we wanted to provide you with an update to MBK’s reported high delinquency rate on the Kiva site. We have fully investigated the matter and have discovered that this issue was the result of an administrative error. While MBK clients have been diligently repaying their loans per their repayment schedule, this simply was not recorded on the site for all loans since November 26th. Given that this situation was caused solely by administrative errors on both sides (Kiva and MBK), Kiva will be updating all of MBK’s loans in the next few days to show that they are in full repayment. This action will lower MBK’s delinquency rate to 0% to reflect the reality occurring on the ground. In addition, the Kiva Partnership Team will continue to improve upon its processes so that we can provide you with the most accurate and thorough information of activities occurring in the field.

We apologize for this error and appreciate your continued willingness to support MBK in providing financial services to the poor in Indonesia!

Sincerely,

The Kiva Partnerships Team

Early Repayment of Loan

Entrepreneur: Warni Sopian
Location: Darmaga, Bogor,, Indonesia

Dear Kiva Lender,

Kiva recently notified you that your loan to the business or businesses above was repaid. As a reminder, the funds from this repayment are available to you as Kiva Credit. You can re-lend this Kiva Credit to another business, withdraw it or donate to Kiva on our website: www.kiva.org.

Reason for early repayment:

All entrepreneur profiles on Kiva's website are posted by local Field Partners, which are organizations that lend to the poor for poverty alleviation. The role of a Field Partner is to screen each entrepreneur, upload his/her loan request on the Kiva website, and service the loan on behalf of Kiva and its lenders. This particular business was posted by our Indonesian Field Partner, Family Business Partners (MBK).

MBK recently chose to repay the outstanding balance of this loan using its own funds, as they are putting their partnership with Kiva on hold for the time being. This decision does not affect the entrepreneur who received this loan. In fact, the entrepreneur will continue to receive the benefits of the loan and repay the outstanding balance of the loan directly to MBK. In addition, as a client of MBK, the entrepreneur will qualify for subsequent loans from MBK upon completion of repayment. For more information about MBK's partnership with Kiva, please visit MBK's Partner Page on the Kiva website: http://www.kiva.org/about/aboutPartner?id=43.

Again, thank you for supporting the working poor in Indonesia, and I hope you will consider using your Kiva credit to lend to another worthy borrower on our site.

Sincerely,

Darren Miao
