Betty is 33 years old, married, and has two children. She lives in the town of Nansana in the Kampala region of Uganda. For the past five years, Betty has been working hard to manage her beauty salon, where she styles hair and sells cosmetics.

To help expand her business, Betty is requesting a loan for 2,000,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to purchase more cosmetic supplies for resale and will help Betty to generate greater profits and improve her family's quality of life. Betty hopes that in the future she will be able to start a hair dressing academy.

Betty is a member of BRAC's Small Enterprise Program (SEP). The program primarily serves small entrepreneurs like Betty who do not have enough collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown too large for microloans.
