GBEDOKPO Group is made up of three women who are friends. They are seeking their second loan from Kiva's partner, ALIDé, in order to bolster their businesses.

The group's representative, named Marie, is the one raising her hand in the photograph. She's 31 years old and lives in Benin. She's married to a butcher named Paul.

The couple has two school-attending children they have to support. Marie never attended school. In order to provide for herself and her children, she's been preparing and selling food (rice and pasta served with sauces) for two years.

Marie gets her supplies in one of Benin's markets. Eager to satisfy her customers and increase her revenue and income, she's seeking a second loan, together with the other members of the group. The first loan was repaid without problems.

Le groupe GBEDOKPO est composé de trois personnes qui sont des amies. C'est la deuxième fois que ce groupe sollicite l'aide financier de ALIDé, afin d'élever le niveau de son activité. La représentante du groupe, du nom de Marie est celle qui a la main levée sur la photo. Marie est âgée de 31 ans et vit au Bénin. Marie est mariée à un boucher du nom de Paul. Le couple à deux enfants tous scolarisés et encore à leur charge. Marie n'a jamais été à l'école. Afin de subvenir à ses besoins et à ceux de ses enfants, Marie prépare de la nourriture (riz, pâte, accompagné de la sauce) qu'elle vend depuis deux ans. Marie s’approvisionne dans l'un des marchés du Bénin. Dans la quête de la satisfaction de sa clientèle et pour accroître son chiffre d’affaires et son revenu, Marie sollicite ensemble avec les autres membres du groupe GBEDOKPO un deuxième crédit. Le premier crédit reçu a été bien remboursé.

About Alidé

Alidé is a Beninese NGO that works to reduce poverty by offering sustainable access to productive loans like this one in addition to savings, training sessions, and social work to low-income families.

Supporters of this loan should be aware that there is some risk of being repaid late. Because the Beninois Ministry of Finance has imposed restrictions on the amount of money Alidé can send to Kiva, the organization can only send monthly repayments in installments smaller than $13,000. This means that some Kiva lenders may receive their repayments late. However, Alidé remains a healthy institution in good standing with its creditors, and Kiva would like to continue working to support its clients. This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee.
