Sikukuu is a married woman with five children, two of whom attend school while the others are working. Her husband is a businessman who contributes to providing the family's basic needs. She has a house with electricity and piped water. Her greatest monthly expense is school fees for her children.
Sikukuu has operated a food stall for the past 10 years; additionally, she also sells firewood. Her potential clients are her neighbors and women of her community. She faces a major challenge of seasonality. She dreams of establishing a hotel in the future.
With the 40,000 KES, Sikukuu wants to purchase bundles of wheat flour, maize flour and sugar for her business. She decided to join Yehu because of easy accessibility to loan facilities.
About Yehu Microfinance Trust
This loan is administered by Yehu Microfinance Trust, which was founded in 1998 as a project of CHOICE Humanitarian Kenya. In July 2007, Yehu became a separate entity from CHOICE and was registered as a trust. Since then, Yehu has expanded to cover over half of Kenya’s 13 coastal districts.
