Mr. Farid, 25 years of age, is a vulnerable, low-income person. He is married and lives in the village of Saatli town located in the south-central flat area of Azerbaijan Republic in the Caucasus region. Farid and his wife run a family business together where he sells beef in the Saatli town while his wife grazes cattle. The income from four cows they own is too low to support the family. Therefore, Farid has applied to the Norwegian Microcredit Saatli branch for a $600 loan to buy calves in order to make his monthly income higher. In the Caucasus region, the price of a good calf is 250 USD.
