Missimide Group is made up of eleven people. It is represented by Bertille, who is pictured raising her hand. The group members live in the same village in Benin. In order to increase their working capital the group members came for the second time to the microfinance institution Alidé and applied for a loan.

Bertille is 39 years old and married to Michel, a retailer. They have three children, all in their care, with two of them attending school. Bertille herself never went to school. In order to provide for her needs and those of her family, Bertille sells corn and cassava flour. In addition, she sells various products and chickens. Bertille has been in this activity for nearly 20 years, which enables her to provide with her husband for household expenses. Bertille gets her supplies in a city in Benin. This second loan will for sure enable Bertille and the other members of Missimide Group to raise their activity level, expand their clientele and increase their income. Their first loan has been paid off on schedule.

MISSIMIDE est un groupe constitué de onze personnes et dont la représentante, (celle qui a la main levée sur la photo) se nomme Bertille. Les membres du groupe vivent dans le même village au Bénin.Dans le but d’augmenter leur fonds de roulement, ce groupe sollicite pour la deuxième fois, un crédit auprès de ALIDé. Bertille est âgée de 39 ans et est mariée à Michel un revendeur. Le couple a trois enfants à charge. Certains des enfants sont scolarisés. Bertille n’a jamais été à l’école. Pour satisfaire ses besoins et ceux de sa famille, Bertille vend du maïs et de la farine de manioc. A côté de cela Bertille vend produits divers et des poulets. Bertille exerce cette activité depuis près de vingt ans, ce qui lui permet ensemble avec son mari, d’assurer les diverses charges de la famille. Bertille s’approvisionne dans une ville du Bénin. Ce deuxième prêt permettra certainement à Bertille et aux autres membres du groupe MISSIMIDE de rehausser le niveau de leur activité et d’accroître leur clientèle et leur revenu. Le premier crédit reçu a été bien remboursé.

About Alidé

Alidé is a Beninese NGO that works to reduce poverty by offering sustainable access to productive loans like this one in addition to savings, training sessions, and social work to low-income families.

Supporters of this loan should be aware that there is some risk of being repaid late. Because the Beninois Ministry of Finance has imposed restrictions on the amount of money Alidé can send to Kiva, the organization can only send monthly repayments in installments smaller than $13,000. This means that some Kiva lenders may receive their repayments late. However, Alidé remains a healthy institution in good standing with its creditors, and Kiva would like to continue working to support its clients.
