Hussein is a 57-year-old Lebanese married man living with his wife and three children. He has been working as a professional taxi driver since 1991. His service path is based on a wide geographical area. Despite his older age, Hussein is obliged to work hard in order to gain good income to be able to well support his family financially. And today, he is asking to borrow $1500 from Kiva partner Ameen s.a.l to perform much needed maintenance on his taxi to increase its safety. He says that he will attract more customers after making the repairs. In the future, he plans to delegate his business to his oldest son.
Due to political and social challenges in Lebanon, personally identifiable attributes entrepreneurs may have been altered to protect their privacy (i.e., blurring portions of the borrower's picture, not indicating a name and location, etc.). Vitas appreciates Kiva lenders' understanding of these challenges and encourages them to continue their support for Lebanon's borrowers.
