Mrs. Ut is a 31-year-old married woman living with her humble husband. They have given birth to two children who are living under their care; they are attending school. Mrs. Ut is a borrower who comes from Ornlong Veng district, where she has lived with her husband for many years. She now works as a local construction worker alongside her husband. From this business activity, this couple can earn approximately $5 for each day.
To upgrade their living and make a better quality of life, this modest couple would like to purchase a motorbike, but they are lacking some money, thus, they are seeking a loan from HKL, a partner with Kiva. They are hoping that this loan will help their family meet happiness and prosperity, and send their children to get a good education and a university degree.
She and her husband are very thankful to all the kind lenders that help her family. This is the first loan for her with HKL and Kiva partner.
Hattha Kaksekar Limited is one of the largest and most successful microfinance institutions (MFIs) in Cambodia. The organization provides microfinance services to the poor, particularly women, in urban and rural areas. Kiva lenders’ funds will be used to expand the outreach of HKL’s financial services to a greater number of clients in rural areas of Cambodia.
