Hiyam is a 41-year-old married woman from Lebanon. She lives with her husband and three young children who are still attending school. She has been running a clothing store since 2009. She only sells women's and children's clothes but she also sells sportswear, socks, flannel shirts, etc. Her business income is vital for her family; she helps her husband. Today, she is requesting to borrow $1200 from Kiva partner Ameen s.a.l. to expand her store’s inventory of new winter clothes. She’s certain that the loan will help her diversify her merchandise selection. In the future, she is hoping to also sell men's clothes.
Due to political and social challenges in Lebanon, personally identifiable attributes entrepreneurs may have been altered to protect their privacy (i.e., blurring portions of the borrower's picture, not indicating a name and location, etc.). Vitas appreciates Kiva lenders' understanding of these challenges and encourages them to continue their support for Lebanon's borrowers.
