Khakim is 34 years old, married and makes a living by selling mobile phones and Sim cards. He also helps set up new devices and repair existing ones. He has been in this business for three years and earns about $250 a month. Khakim tries to use modern up-to-date technologies to satisfy his customers' demands and requirements. He is applying for a loan for 800 AZN to buy more Sim cards to sell and to improve his store.
Aqroinvest Credit Union was founded by a group of 32 Imishli farmers in 2001, and has grown to become one of the largest credit unions in Azerbaijan. It boasts a portfolio of nearly $5 million and is wholly owned by its more than 3,500 borrowers, as of December 2011.
