This committee is called “Jesús Nazareno” and consists of 17 hardworking women. They started this group because they liked seeing their neighbors who were part of another group and how they worked. They say that they are known in their neighborhood for being well-organized.

One of the members is Sra. Enriqueta, who is the President of the group. She says that all of her efforts are focused on providing her family a decent and dignified life without the hardship that she had to endure. Enriqueta sells clothing. She says that she has many customers who always buy from her. They have many orders, so she would like to be able to fulfill them.

She is requesting a loan to buy clothes such as shirts, trousers, and other items so that she can complete the orders from her customers. Like the other members, Enriqueta is very satisfied with the loans she has received from Fundación Paraguaya. Thanks to the loans, she has been able to increase her income and help sustain her household.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
