Germaine is 28 years old and married to Félicien, a clothier. They have five children who are all in school and in their care. She has had very little schooling. To provide for herself and her family, she has a business selling native soaps. She has been in this business for nearly ten years, and it enables her along with her husband to ensure the diverse family expenses are covered. She gets her supplies from one of the large markets in Benin.

This third loan will surely allow Germaine and her whole group DIEU EST GRAND to boost their business and to increase their customer base and their revenues.

DIEU EST GRAND est un groupe constitué de trois personnes et dont la représentante(celle qui a la main levée sur la photo) se nomme Germaine. Les membres du groupe sont de la même famille. Dans le but d’augmenter leur fonds de roulement,ce groupe sollicite pour la troisième fois, un crédit auprès de ALIDé. Germaine est âgée de 28 ans et est mariée à Félicien un couturier. Le couple a cinq enfants tous scolarisés et à leur charge. Germaine a très peu fréquenté l’école. Pour satisfaire ses besoins et ceux de sa famille, Germaine mène comme activité la vente des savons indigènes. Germaine exerce cette activité depuis près de dix ans ; ce qui lui permet ensemble avec son mari, d’assurer les diverses charges de la famille.Germaine s’approvisionne dans l'un des plus grands marchés du Bénin. Ce troisième prêt permettra certainement à Germaine et à l'ensemble du groupe DIEU EST GRAND, de rehausser le niveau de leur activité et d’accroître leur clientèle et leur revenu.

Alidé is a Beninese NGO that works to reduce poverty by offering sustainable access to productive loans like this one in addition to savings, training sessions, and social work to low-income families.

Supporters of this loan should be aware that there is some risk of being repaid late. Because the Beninois Ministry of Finance has imposed restrictions on the amount of money Alidé can send to Kiva, the organization can only send monthly repayments in installments smaller than $13,000. This means that some Kiva lenders may receive their repayments late. However, Alidé remains a healthy institution in good standing with its creditors, and Kiva would like to continue working to support its clients.
