Mdodze is a married woman with five children who are all grown up. Her husband is a farmer who contributes to the provision of the family’s basic needs. She owns a house that neither has electricity nor piped water. Her greatest monthly expense is food for her family.
For the past five years she has been in the business of buying and selling goats for meat. Her potential customers are butcher shop operators and villagers. She faces a major challenge of seasonality. She dreams of expanding her business in the future.
With her KES 20,000 loan she wants to purchase more goats for resale. She decided to join Yehu to access funds to invest in her business.
About Yehu Microfinance Trust
This loan is administered by Yehu Microfinance Trust, which was founded in 1998 as a project of CHOICE Humanitarian Kenya. In July 2007, Yehu became a separate entity from CHOICE and was registered as a trust. Since then, Yehu has expanded to cover over half of Kenya’s 13 coastal districts.
