Sofia is 37 years old and lives in Sapang Dalaga, Misamis Occidental, Philippines. She is married with three school-aged children.
To earn a living, Sofia owns and operates an eatery where she offers various recipes everyone would love to eat. The family is depending on much of the earnings generated from the eatery for day to day consumptions. Sofia is so glad to be in the business for 10 years already. This has allowed her to receive a total of 10,000 PHP a month. She has borrowed 25,000 PHP from GDMPC to purchase food supplies for the business so as to continue her operations.
In the future, Sofia would like to expand and improve the business, particularly the eating area to provide a comfortable place for customers.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
