Sophy is a married woman with five children, four of whom attend school while one is still too young for school. Her husband is a crane drive and contributes, financially to the family's basic needs. Sophy has a house with neither electricity, nor piped water. Her greatest monthly expenses are food for her family and school fees her children.
Sophy has operated a tailoring shop for the past ten years. Her potential clients are her neighbors. She faces a major challenge of machine break downs. She dreams of establishing another shop and employing someone else.
With the KES20,000 she wants to purchase cloth materials for her tailoring shop. She decided to join Yehu because it helps people financially.
About Yehu Microfinance Trust
This loan is administered by Yehu Microfinance Trust, which was founded in 1998 as a project of CHOICE Humanitarian Kenya. In July 2007, Yehu became a separate entity from CHOICE and was registered as a trust. Since then, Yehu has expanded to cover over half of Kenya’s 13 coastal districts.
