Jeaneth is 31 years old and lives in Jimenez, Misamis Occidental, Philippines. She is married with two school-aged children.
Jeaneth has engaged in a motorcycle transport business to make a living. She owns the vehicle and it is operated personally by her husband so as to fully receive the income in each day of work. Everyday needs of the household are primarily taken from this income. She has had this business for two years and earns approximately 5,000 Philippines pesos (PHP) each month. She has requested a loan from GDMPC worth PHP 10,000 to purchase motor tires and spare parts.
Jeaneth is a new member of the cooperative, having initially borrowed the above mentioned amount. Jeaneth hopes to resume the business operations immediately to cover the day-to-day needs of the family. She plans to widen the seating capacity to accommodate more passengers, and to save some portion of her income in preparation for her children's education.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
