Selina is a married woman with one child who is too young for school. Her husband is a businessman who contributes to the provisioning of family basic needs. She has a house with neither electricity nor piped water. Her greatest monthly expenses are food for her family and water.
She has operated a retail shop for the past one year; her potential clients are her neighbors. She faces a major challenge of transportation. She dreams of establishing a wholesale shop in the future.
With the Kshs 20,000 she wants to purchase bundles of wheat flour, maize flour, sugar and cooking oil. She decided to join Yehu because of easy access to affordable loans.
About Yehu Microfinance Trust
This loan is administered by Yehu Microfinance Trust, which was founded in 1998 as a project of CHOICE Humanitarian Kenya. In July 2007, Yehu became a separate entity from CHOICE and was registered as a trust. Since then, Yehu has expanded to cover over half of Kenya’s 13 coastal districts.
