Marylo is 48 years of age and married. She lives in Oroquieta City, Misamis Occidental, Philippines, together with her three children.
Marylo owns and operates a motorcycle transport business for a living. Her spouse is working abroad, trying to give a better life and education to his children. But the everyday needs of the family are taken from the vehicle's income.
She has been engaged in this activity for three years and earns 5,000 Philippines pesos (PHP) a month. She has requested a loan of PHP 35,000 to purchase vehicle tires and other spare parts in order to pursue business operations immediately.
Marylo has been a member of GDMPC since 2010. This is the second loan request made by Marylo in the cooperative.
Marylo is hoping to retain this business engagement for long, long years and expand its seating capacity to earn a greater income.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
