All of them were interested in improving their personal and their family lives. They hope to give their families a better quality of life, since they don't want their children to go through the same need that they themselves experienced. The members are modest women who formed a group to be able to work shoulder to shoulder to achieve their proposed objectives and to be able to work jointly on activities that will strengthen their friendships.
One of the members is Señora Mercedes. She makes her living selling cheese and milk, with which she is able to support her household and meet her daily expenses. In addition, she states that she always has a lot of customers and orders.
Señora Mercedes is requesting the loan to purchase milk and cheese, with which she will be able to stock up to meet her customers' demand.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
