This borrower is from Baray District, Kompong Thom Province, Cambodia. Mrs. Yong is 34 years old, married and has four children.
Yong has owned a store since 2006, selling all kinds of fish, both fresh and grilled, and fresh vegetables. She has good experience, a deep understanding of local consumers and a good reputation. Her store is situated in a crowded area so there are a good number of customers passing by.
She also has a second economic activity of raising pigs. To upgrade her standard of living, she wishes to apply for a loan from Kiva and their partner HKL. The purpose of this loan is to use it to purchase piglets. She hopes that this loan will generate more money which will offer her the opportunity to provide a better life for her family as a whole and to have a bigger house. This means a brighter future for her family.
Hattha Kaksekar Limited is one of the largest and most successful microfinance institutions (MFIs) in Cambodia. The organization provides microfinance services to the poor, particularly women, in urban and rural areas. Kiva lenders’ funds will be used to expand the outreach of HKL’s financial services to a greater number of clients in rural areas of Cambodia.
