Mrs. Nim was born in Kompot Province, Cambodia. She has resided in this province since 1979, and this is where she works as a rice cultivator. From this business, she earns approximately $2 each day. She is married to Mr. Svay, who is a rice farmer also.
This humble couple has been blessed with four children; all of them have already married and live independently. Mrs. Nim also has a second economic activity: raising pigs. She has been doing this for many years, and it is going very well for her thanks to the persistence she brings to her work. To earn a living, she has discussed with her family purchasing more piglets but they are lacking money, so they wish to request some funds through HKL, a partner with Kiva. They hope that these funds will make their family meet happiness and prosperity and have a larger house. This is her first loan with Kiva and HKL. They are grateful to all donors in advance.
Hattha Kaksekar Limited is one of the largest and most successful microfinance institutions (MFIs) in Cambodia. The organization provides microfinance services to the poor, particularly women, in urban and rural areas. Kiva lenders’ funds will be used to expand the outreach of HKL’s financial services to a greater number of clients in rural areas of Cambodia.
