Mrs. Tol is a 38-year-old married woman who currently resides in Baray District of Kompong Tom Province. She is married to Mr. Ry and they have 2 children. The children are single, but one of them is now living apart from the family, working as a laborer in Korea.
Presently, Tol and her husband are cultivators as well as fishermen. They can earn about 8 USD per day to support their family's living condition. She would like to request a loan from HKL and Kiva in order to purchase a piece of fertile land to enlarge her farming business both in rainy and dry seasons.
From her loan, Tol hopes that she’ll use the increased income to expand her house size and send her youngest child to be educated in a university and earn a degree.
Hattha Kaksekar Limited is one of the largest and most successful microfinance institutions (MFIs) in Cambodia. The organization provides microfinance services to the poor, particularly women, in urban and rural areas. Kiva lenders’ funds will be used to expand the outreach of HKL’s financial services to a greater number of clients in rural areas of Cambodia.
