Mariam is a widow with four children ages 11, 17, 28, and 32. They are all in school, except for the youngest. For the past 18 years, Mariam has owned a restaurant where she sells African dishes. Her restaurant income helps her care for her family.
Mariam is requesting a loan to buy sugar, beans, and rice to cook in the restaurant. With the profits from her loan, she would like to start building a new house and increase her capital.
