Leila is a 45-year-old single woman from Lebanon. She lives with one of her parents and two siblings. She has been working in agriculture for the past 15 years. In 2000, she purchased a piece of land where she began her own farming work. She specialized in cultivating vegetables using large plastic tents and has one part-time employee assisting her. Today, she is asking to borrow $2,000 from Kiva partner Ameen s.a.l to install a new plastic tent at her farm. She plans to increase her business productivity and this tent allows her to better monitor her products' quality and grow more types of products throughout the year.
Due to political and social challenges in Lebanon, personally identifiable attributes entrepreneurs may have been altered to protect their privacy (i.e., blurring portions of the borrower's picture, not indicating a name and location, etc.). Vitas appreciates Kiva lenders' understanding of these challenges and encourages them to continue their support for Lebanon's borrowers.
