The 'Mujeres Unidas' committee is a long-standing group that maintains an excellent record within the 'Mujeres Emprendedoras' program. The goal of each of the members is to work, encourage a supportive spirit and maintain the unity of the group.

One of the group's members is Obdulia, who sells food. She has many customers because the dishes she prepares are delicious. She tells us that her business makes her good profits and, thanks to this, she has managed to get her family ahead in life. She would like to be able to continue growing in her field and some day she would like to own large premises where she can sell the food that she prepares. She would very much like to continue working with her committee and she encourages her fellow group members to work to achieve their goals.

Obdulia is requesting this loan to buy food products such as meat, seasonings, vegetables, etc. to make her dishes. She is grateful to Fundación Paraguaya for this opportunity.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
