Marie is a 49-year-old Lebanese widowed woman living with her three children. After the loss of her husband, she had to handle the entire family expenses. So she decided to start her own business to earn income and be able to support her family. She opened a lingerie shop where she sells underwear, nightclothes, etc. Today, she is requesting to borrow $1800 from Kiva's partner Ameen s.a.l. to further diversify her merchandise selection. She will purchase more underwear and nightclothes as she wants to satisfy her customers' demands. She hopes to expand her business in the coming year.
Due to political and social challenges in Lebanon, personally identifiable attributes entrepreneurs may have been altered to protect their privacy (i.e., blurring portions of the borrower's picture, not indicating a name and location, etc.). Vitas appreciates Kiva lenders' understanding of these challenges and encourages them to continue their support for Lebanon's borrowers.
