Gocha is from the village Geguti in West Georgia. He is 44 years old, married, and lives with his wife Guranda, 16 year old daughter, 12 year old son, and his mother-in-law (retired). Both children go to school.
The family earns a living through agricultural activities. In particular, they have two greenhouses. In the period of October through May, greens are grown. In the months of June through September the greenhouses are used for growing cucumber. Gocha sells harvested greens to the wholesale exporters, who export greens to the Ukraine. He sells harvested cucumbers himself at a local open market. Guranda, his wife, is also actively involved in the family agriculture business. The total average monthly income of the family is 900 Laris, including the pension of Gocha’s mother-in-law.
Gocha requested credit for purchasing fertilizers. After fertilizing the land in the greenhouses, he will get a better quality harvest and be able to sell it for a good price. It will positively affect the family income and consequently their living conditions.
