Misir is a 30-year-old man who lives with his family in Bilasuvar. He keeps livestock. He has been running an animal-breeding business since 2000. The profits from this business are the only source of income for the family. Misir will increase the number of livestock in his business by purchasing cows and calves. He requested a loan in the amount of 1000 AZN to buy 3 calves. This is his first loan from AqroInvest and Kiva. Misir is a hard worker and is very dedicated. His main goal is to grow his business so his children can have better opportunities than he had.
Aqroinvest Credit Union was founded by a group of 32 Imishli farmers in 2001, and has grown to become one of the largest credit unions in Azerbaijan. It boasts a portfolio of nearly $5 million and is wholly owned by its more than 3,500 borrowers, as of December 2011.
