Earng, 56 years old, is a farmer with her husband and earns $7 per day. This couple has five children; two are studying, two more are farming, and one more is working in a factory, each earning $4 per day. Every month, she has to spend $30 on food, $7 on electricity, $25 on school fees, $15 on transportation, and $10 on other expenses.
She would like to request a loan of $1000 to buy fertilizer and hire workers to clear the grass in her field. She wants to divide her field into two parts for planting yams and farming. She hopes that her new career will make her income improve.
