Sra. Deysi is married, has 2 school-aged children and is 32 years old. She is currently a member of the communal bank “Las Pioneras” (The Pioneers), which is maD. up of 7 members who make their livings in diverse commercial activities. For the last 6 years, Deysi has run a small grocer's store located in her home. Her business came about when her children started to go to school. Deysi knew that she needed more income to cover the cost of their education and the cost of food and utilities. She had some capital and invested it in the purchase of supplies like rice, milk, sodas etc. With time, her business grew. Deysi tells us that everything she has achieved has been through hard work and support from her husband. Thanks to her efforts and her dedication to improving her family's financial situation, her children have been able to go to school, little by little she has been able to buy things for their home, and most importantly, her family now has a better quality of life. With the goal of continuing to grow, Deysi has requested a new loan to purchase supplies (rice, noodles). We know that Deysi will reach her goals through lots of work and effort and that the Edaprospo loans will help her.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
