Henry is a father of 6, all adults. He is aged 62 and has been in farming in Nkubu area, Central Kenya for 30 years, producing and selling milk and bananas to the local market.
Henry has requested a loan of 30,000 KES from Juhidi Kilimo to construct a grazing unit for his dairy cows. He says the unit will protect his cows and ensure his milk yield is improved. This, he adds, will improve his families living standards.
He says animal diseases is the greatest challenge.
To facilitate a partnership between Kiva and Juhudi Kilimo, K-Rep Group (Juhudi Kilimo’s 100% owner) has guaranteed Kiva funds in the event of institutional default. Lenders should be aware that the risk of borrower default remains borne by the lender.
