Guillermina started selling in a stand in the market where breakfast, lunch, and dinner were served. She worked there for many years but due to her effort and the good use of her earnings, she was able to invest and in this way start her own business. Currently, she has her own sweets stand which has allowed her to support her 3 children in their education as they are currently in school. This is why Guillermina had to work very hard to be able to have her children get ahead since she has made it known to us that she is a single mother.

In her fifties, Guillermina feels full of strength to keep working and in this way provide the best she can for her children as they are her motivation to keep making progress.

Guillermina's biggest wish is to have her children finish their studies. The loan she requested will be used to invest in her business buying cookies, candies, chocolates, amongst other sweets, and in this way add variety to her stand.

The Communal Bank "Las Positivas" is a group made up of 7 members of which Guillermina is the president. They are very grateful for the support given to them. In the picture, we can see Guillermina wearing a red shirt. Gerson was not present because of work reasons.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
