Rosemarie is 33 years old and married with two school-aged children. She lives in Sto. Niño, Tukuran, Zamboanga del Sur, Philippines. Rosemarie is a farmer who grows palay (unmilled rice) to earn a living. She has been doing this for four years on cloudy or even rainy days when necessary. Rosemarie earns 10,000 PHP a month which includes all permanent and impermanent sources. She has been a member of GDMPC since 2009 and has taken out five previous loans from the cooperative.
Rosemarie is requesting a 25,000 PHP loan from GDMPC to purchase fertilizer to facilitate crop growth. In the future, she hopes to have a good harvest and plans to apply appropriate pest-and-insect-fighters to avoid plant devastation. She furthermore aims to expand her business to supplement her family's income.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
