Mrs.Huch, from the Baray District of Kompong Thom Province, is a 36-year-old married woman and good mother of six children. They are all single and living under her care. Mrs. Huch generates her income by raising pigs. She has been in this business since 2004. She married Naran who is a police officer in a community far away from his house where he goes to work every day. Her husband spends money for a motor taxi everyday which is a problem since it cuts down her income. Therefore, she and her husband want to purchase a motorbike but they lack money. Mrs. Huch would like to request a loan in order to buy a motorbike thus facilitating her husband’s work. She hopes that this loan will help her family find happiness.
Hattha Kaksekar Limited is one of the largest and most successful microfinance institutions (MFIs) in Cambodia. The organization provides microfinance services to the poor, particularly women, in urban and rural areas. Kiva lenders’ funds will be used to expand the outreach of HKL’s financial services to a greater number of clients in rural areas of Cambodia.
