Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

A loan of $5,000 helped a member to buy three bales of used clothing.

Mashauri Group's story

This client named Zainabo, leader of the business group called «Mashauri», is a young entrepreneur of 37, the mother of 10 children who all go to school. She sells used clothing. Her husband is a small-scale retailer. She displays her merchandise at the central market of Virunga. She has been earning money through small businesses of this type for nine years, but she has completed eleven loan cycles with Hekima.

This new loan will serve to buy three bales of used clothes for resale. Beyond that, she hopes to see her children grow up comfortably and to expand her business. This client thanks Hekima for its work to help poor women who are excluded from traditional banking.

In this group: Zainabo, Chiruhya, Nsimire, Mayo, Kabira, Banteya, Desange, Naweza, Bwiko, Kavira, Kahambu, Hidika, Balola, Bitakuya, Kavira
